Jacques Labelle
Jacques Labelle was born in Quebec. His father was involved in the trucking and machinery business and Jacques began to operate heavy machinery in his youth. At the age of 19, he obtained his journeyman status in Quebec’s construction industry, today known as CCQ.
For almost 30 years, Jacques developed the skills of the trade while working on road construction, hydroelectric and mining projects in Quebec and overseas. In 1996 he accepted a position as an instructor in Northern Quebec. Passionate about his trade and excited about this new challenge, he completed a teaching licence while working. Since then, he has devoted himself to the teaching profession, training people in several training centres and on-site mining projects.
Jacques has been recognized over the years for the competence of the operators graduating from his courses and the quality of the teaching tools that he has created. He participated in the development of the vocational training program, Northern Heavy Equipment Operations (NHEO 5784), devoted to the mining and construction sectors. He also established specialized training systems for several mining companies.
In 2013, he and a partner founded Formation Jakar which includes a publishing house, Editions Jakar. This new venture crowns his career, allowing him to transmit his expertise by providing study manuals for heavy equipment training. The first booklet is now available to the public in both its French version, OPÉRATEUR DE BOUTEUR, and its English version, OPERATING THE BULLDOZER.
Karine Labelle
Karine Labelle holds a Bachelor’s degree in translation and Hispanic studies, and a French foreign language teaching certificate, Certificat d’Enseignement du Français Langue Étrangère (CEFLE). In 2012, she joined Jacques Labelle in his new venture, Formation Jakar. This exciting enterprise fits perfectly with her academic background and career aspirations.
To acquire the skills needed for the creation of EDITIONS JAKAR, she completed a course on how to open a publishing house which offered practical and relevant information on the mechanics of publishing, promotion and book markets.
Within Edition Jakar, Karine coordinates and plans the phases of production and ensures quality throughout the publishing process. She also guarantees that the objectives of the customized training publications meet the needs of trainers, students and the market.
